In addition to the dinner, an exhibition of work by participating potters will be on display at Hanging Around Rome from November 8-30 located at 1205 Dean Avenue. The Opening Reception will be held November 11 at 6 p.m.
"Over 25 potters are participating in Empty Bowls this year in addition to students from Berry, Shorter and Cave Spring Elementary," says Jeri Jankovsky, Empty Bowls board member and local potter. "The support of not only the local potters but the community at large is overwhelming and makes our goal of fighting hunger and helping those less fortunate attainable."
Sponsors for the event include Garner and Glover, City of Rome, Rome Area Council for the Arts, Hanging Around Rome and Harvest Moon.
Empty Bowls is an international project to fight hunger and is locally driven by area potters and community members with a passion to bring positive change to Rome and surrounding areas through arts and education. For more information email Lisa Brown at potterybylisa@gmail.com.
